Sure Brian Posehn is the metal guy of stand up and he plays a coupled gay man with a love of Tab on Sarah Silverman's now defunct program, but there is something beyond all that to note about him. Posehn's dry green smoked wit wouldn't have connected beyond other comics years ago, but that's why Posehn and his friends (David Cross, Patton Oswalt) never stopped.

Many called this an indie-comedy, while others who loathed the Pitchfork connotations simply called the swelling of heady yet nerdy comedy as underground -- but they won and it's no longer underground.

David Cross is a T.V. darling, Patton Oswalt has paychecks from Disney subsidiaries, and Posehn writes songs with his heavy metal heros.

Brian Posehn will be at the Punchine from Friday to Sunday.
