With every year, Robert Mapplethorpe’s identity distills further into that of a “homoerotic” photographer. In this show of polaroids, one is given a chance to take a more nuanced view of the artist. His images of mattress ticking and his ghostly, Rimbaud-esque self-portraits show an artist in love with medium—perhaps over male form.
