Cindy Sherman’s set of satirical portraits, taken from 1889 to 1990, show her dressed in elaborate costumes as she portrays famous works of art, including ones from Raphael and Caravaggio. Unrecognizable in most, Sherman dons prosthetic noses, wigs and more in the portrait series. Sherman is a revered photographer and filmmaker. Her work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art among numerous others and resides in the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
