In the mother of all optical illusions, Leandro Erlich has constructed what seems to be an indoor swimming pool with fully clothed people standing under the water, breathing without a care in the world. When it is revealed to the viewer that the pool is actually empty and the water is merely an acrylic illusion, Erlich’s brilliance only becomes clearer. The piece is currently on long term exhibition at P.S. 1 so see it as many times as possible. -ABP
